So much of the stuff we read about babies and feeding and sleep is simply not applicable to our situation, given the high level of extra care these babies require, including a highly intentional feeding schedule, added calories and anti-reflux formula, post-feed holding (to prevent spit-ups), highly intentional sensory stimulation, and cocktails of medications.
The good news is that it seems to be paying off for both of them. Hazel weighed in at 9 lb. 1 oz. tonight, and Jude turned in a 7 lb. 13 oz. weigh-in. In addition, they both seem to be steadily progressing in other developmental areas, as far as we can tell. Thank God.
Now to teach them the difference between day and night ...

Wow ... this is quite the introduction to parenting. I remember people telling us at the beginning that this is just a short period of time - and wanting to shoot them because it just felt like we were drowning in sleeplessness. Hang in there. Use friends to help so you can get a nap in. If it's any help, it really is amazing how your body adjusts to not sleeping. You almost start to get used to it. And now that we have a 6 month old I can begin to believe that the sleeplessness really doesn't last forever. So hang in there ;).
